I write the GTT column for The New York Times and the Drop Everything List for Texas Monthly. My culture and arts reporting and criticism appears in the Austin American-Statesman, Rolling Stone, The Texas Observer, and The Village Voice, etc. I am formerly an editorial staffer at L.A. Weekly and BlackBook. I live with my wife, daughter, dog, and cat in Austin, Texas, where I also manage educational programs for the O. Henry Museum.
